AROMATHERAPY
It’s not just about the aroma it’s also the medicinal therapeutic effects on the body, mind and spirit – indulge yourself naturally!

AROMAS are powerful first impressions and do amazing wonders.
Smell is the first thing someone notices when walking in to a house/room. Certain scents (relaxants) are lovely comforting and relaxing to some and others (tonics) are very stimulating, pungent, invigorating & awakening. The best way to know how your house/rooms smell before and after aroma therapy is to walk out of the room, close the door, and then come back in to experience it how a stranger would. In aroma therapy, subtle smells are desired for guests/others while for yourself you may choose what’s best for you.

TYPES of AROMA THERAPY

  1. Perfumes/Cosmetics (Grapefruit spray, cologne, lotions, shampoos)
  2. Candles (Yankee, Glade)
  3. Fresh flowers, plants, herbs & trees (lilacs, roses, carnations, basil, etc.)
  4. Air freshners (Plug in’s, car hangers, Febreeze, baby powder.)
  5. In Drinks (Tea’s, chlorophyll/digestion, aloe vera – sun burn, olive oil’s, vinegar, etc.)
  6. In Foods (Spices, herbs, citrus, vegetable stir fry’s and CCC- Oh that smells delicious! Without smell we would have no taste. Smoking decreases smell and taste.
  7. Absolutes – made from the most fragrant and delicate flowers (using millions of petals for one small bottle of oil, these are obviously more expensive). They are more complete and multi-dimensional & therefore have more effect on mental and spiritual aspects of the body. Examples: rose, jasmine, hyacinth, tuberose, maroc, narcissus, cistus.
  8. Essential Oils – highly concentrated aromatic plant essences (Out of the thousands of flowers in this world only about 300 produce an essential therapeutic oil). Think of essences as like the medicinal properties (made up of chemicals, amino acids, etc.) in certain plants which make positive changes in our lives. All essential oils shift energy, purify the air and many of them are good cleaning agents (antiseptics that kill germs).
  9. How to tell if it is 100% pure essential oil: individual oils will be different prices, it will smell different, when dropped on paper – it won’t leave an oil stain like vegetable oil does.

Where do we get oils from:
Florals, Fruities, Herbies, Leafies, Resinies, Rooties, Seedies, Spices, Woodies. (Petals, stems, twigs, leaves, roots, trees, bark, grasses, fruits or vegetables)

Purposes: There are many vast & wonderful effects of aroma therapy from internal help (physical, mental, spiritual) to external help (promoting business, motivating others, pest control & protection). Smell, the too often neglected sense, can change your life!!

Think of Aroma therapy/oils as medicines that initiate and facilitate faster healing and stabilize/balance emotions. Consider them as nature’s jewels that God has given us to empower our lives. In her book the Fragrant Mind, Valerie Ann Worwood describes essential oils as “drops of pure positivity that put the sparkle back in life”. They are treats to smell at any time to shift the energy of the day or boundary you from negative energy, pests or sickness.

The highest frequencies (52MHz –320MHz) of essential oils are similar to love, happiness, prayer, meditation, and can cancel out negative emotions or anxiety and create an environment where disease, bacteria, virus, fungus, etc. cannot live. (Healthy body 62-72 MHz, Disease begins at 58 MHz).

They work like a key, which opens up and starts chemical reactions so body and mind can heal faster. They set off electrical impulses, enzyme activity, and hormone production and increase overall the body’s electrical frequency. Smells/oils, like water, go directly into the body where it’s needed. If you put oil on your skin it shows up in the blood stream and urine shortly after being applied. They do what they need to do to start things going and then leave.

Plants and Animals both have enzymes, immune systems, hormones and similar DNA (chemical compositions). That’s why plant DNA can act like keys to our own physical and mental mechanisms and why they can help break down infections, toxins and kill parasites. Chemicals and chemistry derive from the Greek word CHEMIA meaning Plant Juice. Chemicals, which are differently composed or place in different order, can produce different smells and different effects on the body.

Olfactory (smell) system is the most direct path from outside world to brain and blood stream. It gives immediate access to the mind, body and emotions. Through the nose capillaries, oils, sprays, drugs, etc. have access right to the blood stream. Smells are converted by olfactory receptor cells through ion channels into electrical impulses to the brain. Because olfactory bulbs (the smell organ) is connected to the limbic system in the brain where emotions, learning, memory and automatic and instinctual activities occur, then smells can really affect these areas in positive or negative ways. (Smells can trigger automatic thoughts, memories and emotions where we can then choose to release them.)

Pleasant aromas can increase creative performance (insights & inventions), increase positive evaluation of people and things (business and social) and elicit more happy memories (mood change, anti-depressant). They can help your memory and learning (school and brain function) as well as increase business sales (livelihood).

Bad smells (i.e. chemicals) go straight to your brain – killing cells, mold can go right to your blood stream causing allergies and digestion problems, second hand smoking can give you lung cancer or a contact high.

Example of possible Daily Routine:

  • Morning before waking to feel invigorated: Pine & Eucalyptus & Grapefruit.
  • Day: Floral & wood aroma to maintain relaxed atmosphere.
  • Afternoon to keep alert after lunch time drowsiness: Lemon & Jasmine.
  • With Final flood of Citrus: Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, to keep alert on drive home.
  • Night: Lavender, Chamomile, and Majoram, etc. to relax after hard day.

Methods for use:

  • Messages – use virgin base oil (i.e. nut oil, vegetable oil, evening primrose, wild turkey oil, etc.) to mix with essential oils when applying on skin such as a message oil. 5 drops maximum to 1 tsp. oil. Can do the rainbow technique with 7 different oils.
  • Hot baths are great ways to use oils because not only do you smell the oil, it can also go through your skin. Heat helps to absorb the oils. When you sweat from the hot bath, skin pores are open to allow faster access to the blood stream and lymph glands. Avoid Basil, Cinnamon, Clove, Peppermint and Thyme in the bath. Use approx. 8 drops.
  • As Perfume (on your neck, face or clothes) Just remember to dilute 1 drop of essential oil with 1 tsp. of base vegetable or nut oil or wet hands/neck first to dilute with water. In your favorite creams and lotions, perfumes, shampoo, toothpaste, ointments, flowers.
  • In mouth (spices/cloves, china blend, fruits/vegetables, peppermint, cinnamon) With food and herbs (brings back the vitality of the food and herbs in storage).
  • Feet, hands, and shoulders – during message, before bed/socks on feet, under heating pad, hot towel, warm blanket, hot stones, in hot cloth, hot or cold compresses (5 drops).
  • As pest control: on arms, face, legs, hands, clothes, etc. On cotton balls or on ribbons and hang them on trees or by nests. One drop in an out door light bulb. In any water near house. In candles burning outside on wax at top just as begins to melt. Spray bottles on pests and all around you. In an oil diffuser (only 15-30 minutes at a time)
  • In humidifiers or vaporizers (8 drops)
  • Spray bottles are great to freshen the room (8 drops to 21/2 cups), for cleaning and for plants and insects. In shower/body rub, foot soak or just a bowl of hot water – inhale vapor (3-5 drops).
  • On tissues, face clothes, hot towels, pillows, blankets, clothes, wood, in candles.
